Ruben Philipp
Ruben Philipp (b. 1996 in Dortmund, Germany) is a media artist and composer. Following forays into philosophy, computer science, history, and sociology, he studies composition at the ICEM (Institut für Computermusik und Elektronische Medien, Folkwang University of the Arts). His artistic practice focuses on multimedia compositions, installations and video works.
His work has been presented at venues such as the ZKM Karlsruhe. He realized installations such as "désormais" (2022), commissioned by the Gesellschaft für Neue Musik Ruhr, and the multimedia installation "the prospect of its own undoing" (2025) in collaboration with Fabian Bentrup and Nick Ruppel. Furthermore, he has worked as a composer and musical director for theaters including Schauspielhaus Bochum, Theater Bonn, and Grillo-Theater Essen. His electroacoustic works have been broadcast by Deutschlandfunk Kultur.
Together with Greta Gottschalk, he realizes short films and audiovisual media projects as Philipp Gottschalk. He is part of the electroacoustic improvisation duo bentrup•philipp.
